Choking on Fireflies: or finding a place in the world.
There is a set of lyrics from a song, Brightly Wound by Eisley, which reads:
It’s happening all the time when I open my eyes.
I’m still taken by surprise. I hold sunlight
and swallow fireflies and it makes me want to cry.
I love you.
And really, the entire song should be listened to but these first few lines caught my interest the first time I listened to the song. To me the song can be seen as a person experiencing the twists and turns of life and the beauty of a relationship. It’s been at least a year since I first listened to the song and came up with the screen name chokingonfireflies which derived from this song. The meaning of it being something along the lines of being so taken by the things (or fireflies) of life or love that it chokes you up and it takes a moment before you are able to breathe easy again.
